It's autumn. It's pink.
Thursday 28 September 2006
Nono..... no updates yet! Just putting up a new sketch. I can still do that, can't I? >:@

I miss drawing my usual character portraits. That's why I whipped this one up. When was the last time I drew something like this? *checks previous entries* Oh....... only 2 weeks ago hee hee.

Double sketch bonanza
Tuesday 26 September 2006

Can anyone actually see what's going on in this pic? Dur dur dur..... (it's an astronaut btw)

And here's a picture of a boy and his buffalo.

I'm really digging the random subjects that we thought of. It's refreshing to see we tackle subjects that we don't usually draw. Great practice too.

Anyway, next update will feature the T.I.T.S Up animation. Wait for it!

Today's sketch: a little tribute to the legendary Osamu Tezuka
Monday 18 September 2006

My "sketch a day" routine is going well. So well in fact, that my friend Se Ri has joined in the game. A new collaboration has begun!

To commemorate this awesome event, we decided to draw the lovable and all-time classic Astro Boy! (pictured above) For those who are not familiar with him, Astro Boy is one of the many creations of Osamu Tezuka (other notable ones include Phoenix, Black Jack and Kimba the White Lion). Tezuka is a really great guy. He really is. Many regard him as the Father of Japanese animation. So the next time you watch your Naruto or Spirited Away or La Blue Girl, remember that it all started from him.

Sadly, I'm ashamed to say that I never got the chance to see Astro Boy or his other stuff. I think it is a crime for me to pursue my ambition and not even once watched any of his works. I shall definitely put this in my "things to do before I die" list.

Watch Astro Boy 1960s opening here.
Seriously who doesn't feel pumped after watching that? Ganbatte Tetsuwan Atomu!!

Watch Astro Boy 2003 remake opening here.
I think it is obligatory to say that it can't beat the charm of the original opening.

Well anyway, time to move on! I've added 4 new original works in the gallery.

Oh and say hello to Trent....

He'll be joining the animation crew soon enough. :)

Sketch of the Day
Wednesday 13 September 2006

This is how I wanna look like when I grow up. Just kidding.

I
really should draw more often
Tuesday 12 September 2006

I think I'm gonna flood this page with random sketches from now on.

Anyway, expect some new updates soon....

Colour Clash goes public
Tuesday 29 August 2006

Isn't this website already opened to the public?! you might ask yourself. Well yah, sort of. DaimatioN has only been passed on to close friends, relatives, acquaintances and potential employers so far.

BUT NOW...

I've decided to post my Colour Clash animation at CGTalk. Basically this site holds one of the largest community of CG people on the web, ranging from amateur students to professionals from the industry.

What does this have to do with my site then? There are a couple of possible outcomes:

  • Some people will like my animation and decide to check out my website.
  • Some people will like my animation, but do not bother to check out my website.
  • Some people will think my animation is crappy doo doo.

If the majority of the people go with the first outcome, then there is a possibility that the data transfer will exceed my monthly quota due to the drastic increase of visitors. What does this mean? My site might be temporarily shut down.

Anyway, I'm not really worried about this. It's just me predicting the worst case scenario. ^__^ I reckon most people will go with the middle outcome (and the occasional 3rd outcome....*sniff*).

Well.... just giving you guys a heads up!

Say, wanna see Colour Clash in a bigger, sharper format? Now you can! Click here!
(A very big THANK YOU to Mark Edwards for hosting up my vid! Yay!)

Okok, time for the other updates:

  • Added 3 original works, 1 fan art and 1 life drawing in the gallery.
  • ...and..... that's about it actually.

Oh before I go, I'd like to share with you something that I came across while walking around the neighbourhood last week....

*aaheeeheeee*....

So close, yet so far...
Tuesday 22 August 2006

Some of you may have heard that I almost got a job recently. I said "almost" because due to some complications, the job offer had to be put on hold. Do you want to know how close I was at getting the job? Allow me to illustrate...

As frustrating as it was, I still look up at the sky with high determination. I hope that the company will manage to settle through this problem! Goooo company!

Well enough about my minor crisis. You're here for the other stuff, aren't you?

So without further ado, I shall call this update..... the ANIMATION FiESTA!!!

Animation updates include:

  • SHOWREEL 2006 now available in the animation section!
  • Colour Clash... now in a brighter format!
  • Added an INFO page for Colour Clash!
  • Shaker Head Showdown... with sharper visuals (and a smaller file size!)

Also, some other updates!

  • Added 1 original work, 1 fan art and 1 life drawing in the gallery section!
  • Added more links! (I have more friends!)
  • Tweaked the gallery format.

Whew......that's all folks. So tired. Off I go to sleep now...

A great, big Thank You
Saturday 12 August 2006

I want to thank you all for the feedbacks that I have received so far! Although I won't be replying to any of them individually (it seems redundant to keep on posting a "thank u!" msg in the guestbook all the time), I really do appreciate the comments. However, if specific questions are asked, I will do my best to reply them.

Also, do not hesitate to give any criticisms. Sucky layout? Boring content? Lame pictures? Bring it on! I'm a big boi. I can take it........ I think.

Whatever it takes to improve my site.

Well, that's about it. Time to announce the updates:

  • Added a new graphical element on the navigation menu (look to the left).
  • Added 2 original works, 2 fan arts and 1 life drawing in the gallery section.
  • Added more crap in the about me section.
  • Changed some gallery comments.

Stay tuned for more DaimatioN goodness!

Grand Opening
Tuesday 8 August 2006

And so... DaimatioN is officially opened to the public!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!
*releases toyols in the air*

.......

So....

...what else is there to say? I'm kinda stumped. I'm supposed to finish this by midnight, and it's already 12.05. I guess firstly I'd like to thank everyone of you who has helped me throughout the process of building this site. Too many to list... you know who you are. :) Either your contribution was in the form of technical help, or motivational support, or even the smallest "Oi when is your site gonna be ready?", I am grateful for all your involvement in this long and....

I don't know how to finish that sentence. Shouldn't type that much.... I'm so blank. Hmmm....... that's about it I guess. Well what are you waiting for? Go and explore the world, my child! Gooo!!

DaimatioN AWAITS!
